A question about adopting a dane in Ontario
« Thread Started on Feb 3, 2009, 7:36pm »

I was just wondering if anyone had any info about how you can go about adopting a dane in Ontario Canada?
I have looked into great dane rescue here but they wont adopt out to familys with children and we have 2 children.

Also does anyone know if it is a hard process to bring a Dane over the border from the U.S we would consider adopting from the u.s as well?

We are not yet ready for a dane but I am just gathering as much info as possible and I am wondering what our options would be as far as rescuing a dane.

Well i dont know about adopting in canada, but when i was gonna get layla one of the options was to for krista to just bring her to me. We called boreder patrol and they said as long as you had papers showing that you paid for the dog and that the dog was up to date on all the current vaccinations. Then there would be no problem bringin a dog across the border.. But What you could to just to make sure all that info is still correct is look up the # for the border patrol that you would be crossed to bring the dane over and get all the info straight from them. we called 3 different places just to make sure all the info was the same. But that was bringing a dog from canada to the us. So, it might be different going from the us to canada... Plus calling them directly would give you up to date info that you might need and what type of information you might need to have with you..

oh good idea, thanks so much! Is it common to find a dane in a shelter in the states in your area? I have been volenteering here for a year and have not seen one come into our shelter though we are not in a very big city at all.

Thanks for the great tip!

Hello, to bring a dog to canada from the us all you need is proof of ownership and a health guarantee that you can get from the vet for not too much money. I have loads of rescue info for both the states and canada!...feel free to pm me!
