Hi All,

Looking forward to getting to know everyone! This first one is of my Annie Bell at 7 weeks. She is a border collie X german shepherd mix and is now 2 years old. She is my heart dog.
This one I took a few weeks ago after a day at the park. Annie jst turned 2 in this picture.
This is a picture of Baron the first night I brought him home he was 8 weeks.
This is Annie and Baron playing together as puppies (they are 6 months apart in age)
This is Annie and Baron in front of my Christmas tree last year(2008).
This is Baron at 14 months
I took this one tonight, I just woke them up from snuggling each other.
This is my fat cat Carly. She is the same age as Baron (19months).

Ive heard of a dog park around here, but Im not exactly sure where it is located just yet. Gonna try and look it up to see if i can find it. Then maybe take the dogs once in a while to give them a place to run off some energy.

Well, it a bad news. The day we were sending deposit, I got email from the breeder Chris not to send the deposit yet because there were some complication on the puppy I was getting. It turned out to be parvo and she didnt make it. there were few more puppies left with her but others didnt get it. Im very sad and upset but glad other puppies didnt get it. So, Chris put our name on waiting list for next litter and going to give us some discount from the new litter. It will be sometime next year for new puppy for us.

Hi. My name is Robin. I have a Harlequin Dane. She was born in May 2009. She is my first dane and most likely will NOT be my last. She is quite a handful. I love her dearly. We do have our fair share of problems ranging from UTI's to going blind. My girlfriend owns her full brother (black) and they are two totally different dogs.

Lol! Yup definately sounds familiar. Boo sleeps at the bottom of the bed but her head is always on my legs or feet as a pillow. Bacardi is always under the covers with me, but will eventually move up a little and use the other pillow at top of the bed, lol.... We all have very abused dogs

lmao... that sounds just like bruiser and sissy... when i leave for work they join Steve in bed.. sissy snuggles up to Steve's belly...usually trying to steal one of his pillows... and bruiser usually using Steve's feet or rear as a pillow. If Steve moves both dogs get very aggravated and they both voice there opinions...lol
Whats really funny is when i am home and i got in to wake Steve up, both dogs try to help by getting in the bed and nudging Steve and Trying to get there morning love. its too cute cause its now apart of there routine. They expect to get love from daddy before hes even out of bed...

Im sooo excited but I start to worry at same time. You never know what kind of owner dogs have. Owners might bring dogs who havent got shots. I dont want my dogs to get sick because I take them to dog park. I just dont know if there is going to be a rules about vaccinations, illness, etc etc.

My husband is so good natured. At night Drake likes to use any part of his body as a pillow and if he moves that body part we hear moaning and groaning and then all kinds of complaints my husband apologizes and lays still so that Drake has a pillow ( he has a real pillow but prefers my husbands feet or rear.

Duchess turned 1 year old!!!! « Result #41 on Nov 4, 2009, 10:07am »
Duchess turned 1 year old on November 2nd. Im really glad she made it since we lost LT and Lady this year. Duchess turned out to be wonderful and beautiful girl for us and we are soooo excited. We were scared when her and LT got sick and LT didnt make it. Glad she did.
Here are some of her pictures when she was "lot"smaller!!
This is the day we got her
this is now
Duke gave Duches her early birthday kiss.
Duchess is almost 33 in tall and weight about 110lbs. She got taller than Duke LOL she is alot taller than her mom. Im glad she took after her daddy. her mom was probably about 28 to 30 in tall, but her daddy was about 36 to 37 in tall. She is a very spoiled girl who rule the house, rule over Duke, Duke let her LOL She took over the bed, took over Duke's airvent, and pillow which is mine to sleep.....

Not sure when but we are getting dog park in Valdosta, Georgia!!! I am sooo excited But i heard city is spending over 1 million dollars on dog park. To me, it seems very expensive. but as long as it safe for the dogs and have all the things they need, it will be good.
I'll post it again soon as dog park open! if anyone near us, we need to have get together!!
Re: Dog getting zoomies on walk?! « Result #53 on Oct 27, 2009, 5:48pm »
It just takes some work and consistency,....when at the vet for example...I walk a few steps, then if they pull or get too excited I stop and they have to sit. Then we go again. If they are still really crazy I turn around and go right back out the door and start over. At the door, when I open it they do NOT enter until I say so. Then the same drill. I would not avoid situations that set them off...I would jump right in and expose them as much as possible to get them used to it. I walk Meeka and Hogan on a two-dog leash, yep both dogs on one leash and I NEVER lose control of them. If you try to control a dog that outweighs you with brute strength, you will lose...or possibly injure yourself! That's why my philosophy is that you must outsmart them with good, consistent training. Show them what is acceptable and what isn't. And if you approach a situation and they wanna start zoomin, you turn on your heel and go the other way enthusiastically, draggin them behind you and when they turn to follow along, praise like crazy.. They learn with consistency that only calm behaviour gets them near other dogs, children, whatever gets them so riled up in the first place...then when you try and they wanna act up again, have them go into a more submissive position like a sit or down..if they won't listen, you take them and walk away. The key is regular consistent walks and repetition..and they will learn. I had my nine year old walking Meeka AND Hogan tonight, with no worries, no pulling, and there were people, dogs and children around. C

Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a few days...
I was talking to my mom about it, and she was a Vet Tech for a few years, I myself am planning on starting school to become one. She was telling me its a whole different ballgame when its your own dog you are trying to take care of.
I'm not sure if I would be able to trust myself to not do more harm than good under that stress...

It would scare me to do something like that. Ive seen those before... and i wouldnt trust myself to stick a tube down a dogs throat at a critical time like that... atleast not with out some kind of training...
But if you know what you are doing yeah i say those are great to have incase of bloat...

I have same problem with Duchess too. Duke do really well but Duchess, Im just waiting to see when I get hurt LOL Im getting pinch collar for Duchess very soon if she dont get better. Duke have his pinch collar and when he see the pinch collar, he get so excited because he know he get to walk outside the fenced in yard. I make them sit down when they start to go crazy for about a minute or so, I wait until they calm down and start walking again. It seems like it working for me. Good Luck! Maya
This may not be for the squeamish but I would give it a shot in a heartbeat if I thought it would save my friend's life.
Basically you use a block of wood to hold your dog's mouth open and lubricated tubing to put down the throat to the stomach to try and release the air. It probably won't work if torsion comes in and the stomach is twisted over 90 degrees but if you can deflate the stomach before it causes torsion all the better. (also I know some people have had their dog's stomach tacked to try and prevent torsion occurring at all, which would greatly increase your chances.)
I would still take him to the vet afterward but If it's the middle of the night or you're a ways away from one this may save his life.

I dont really feel that good at all with this experience. If I had little more money, I'd bring rest of the puppies home and take care of them and find a good home but cant do it right now. I do wish to find people who got other puppies and talk to them and see the puppies but this breeder dont keep who he sold the puppies to. Im keeping up with the heat cycle for the mom dane because I know for sure, he will breed this poor girl again. Once he post the ad, Im going to report them. I dont want other people go through what we went through. It was a good lesson for us. We wont go through this again. I found several breeders outside Georgia and couple in Atlanta area and talking to them a lot. when we are ready for dane, I probably go through them. It will cost a lot but I think it will be worth spending that money. I still feel like going over to their place and beating them up though LOL

He insists that the foot pieces should be chewed off, Good think I made them Velcro so he just pulls them off without damaging them.. so far...
I can get him to leave them alone for a few minutes with a "leave it" command, but It's been taking some serious treat bribery to keep them on for longer amounts of time.
I am hoping to be able to keep it on him long enough for the trick-or-treaters to make their run.

Any of you who have owned Danes for awhile know not to feel sorry for her, but to feel sorry for our floors and rugs!
Poor Mox though, she looks so miserable. She's eating a little bit and drinking water okay so I don't think it's worth taking her to the vet for, you can just tell that she feels crummy and wants to sleep.

Doug went to school with him and knew all his sisters and brother. Anyways, I do wish sometimes I wish I can go back in time where I can hold Duke and Duchess. They grew up so fast!

I was having a similar problem in front of the vet for our weight and shot visit.(last ones till next year) And my vet has Danes herself she suggested a head collar. It causes no choking or pulling and is very comfortable for both dog and owner i bought one and it works like a charm. I bought one for the mastiff mix female no more pulling and lots of control. And no pain or discomfort to the animal. I have complete control over Drake and the loop that goes over there noses are cushioned

Re: Dog getting zoomies on walk?! « Result #100 on Oct 10, 2009, 4:29pm »
I am thinking about investing in a prong collar just to try and get some control back when he goes nuts. Usually he is very good and doesn't pull, but something sets him off into Zoomie mode and he forgets everything. So far I have been avoiding places that seem to set him off most, I did put a tighter collar up high on his neck so he can't pull free now. (his main collar is lose on him even at smallest setting)
Thanks for your tips! I'll see if I can find away to get him to use more energy on the walk without taking me out in the process.
